Tom Montag is the founding Chief Executive Officer of Rubicon Carbon. He has over 20 years of experience in financial markets.
As the Chief Operating Officer and President of Global Banking and Markets at Bank of America, Tom was a member of the company’s executive management team. In this role, he oversaw all businesses serving corporations, institutional investors, and government entities. Previously, Tom served as a partner, member of the management committee, and co-head of the Securities Division at Goldman Sachs.
Tom currently serves on the boards of Goldman Sachs, Deschutes Land Trust, The Hispanic Federation, and the Japan Society, and is a trustee of Northwestern University.
Dr. Jennifer C. Jenkins oversees the overall quality and integrity of Rubicon Carbon’s credit investments, products, and portfolios.
With a PhD in in Ecosystem Science from the University of New Hampshire, a Master of Forest Science from Yale University, an MBA from the University of Maryland, and a BA from Dartmouth College.
Jen brings over 30 years in climate science and policy across academia, government, and the private sector. A noted expert in carbon cycling and ecosystem science, she was a co-recipient of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize as part of the IPCC team and previously held leadership roles at NCX and Enviva.
Filipe drives global efforts to expand high-integrity carbon markets by aligning investors, policymakers, and corporate leaders around scalable climate solutions. With over 15 years of experience across investment banking, capital markets, and sustainable finance, he has held senior roles in global firms and impact-driven initiatives.
At Rubicon Carbon, he helps shaping strategy and investor engagement. He also supports strategic fundraising at TPG Rise and other leading climate investment platforms to advance the firm’s broader market development efforts.
Filipe serves as Special Envoy for Carbon for the United Nations Office for Project Services and advises the ASEAN Alliance on Carbon Markets.
A frequent speaker at COP, G7/G20 summits and Davos, Filipe focuses on bridging public and private sectors to accelerate climate investment and global market implementation.
Mike brings a background in financial markets, high-tech business development and carbon markets to Rubicon Carbon. Cipresso began his carbon markets journey while working for a non-profit in Cambodia for which he is now chair of its board.
Mike spent 13 years at Google leading new business development and started his career as an investment banker at Lehman Brothers. He holds a BS in Economics from the Wharton School and an MBA from UC Berkeley.
Sally leads our finance and accounting functions, drawing on extensive experience to design a scalable financial framework that ensures compliance while meeting immediate business needs.
She drives continuous improvement to align with enterprise growth objectives, promote financial transparency and position the organization for sustained success and industry leadership.
Sara Xi is Chief Product Officer at Rubicon Carbon, where Sara leads the design, development, and launch of mission-driven climate tech products that support high-integrity carbon solutions. With two decades of experience building FinTech SaaS platforms and scaling product and engineering teams across global financial institutions and startups, she brings deep expertise in innovation and customer-centric design.
She holds a BA in Computer Science and Economics, an MS in Computer Science, and an MBA, and also serves on the board of Water.org, aligning her product leadership with broader social impact.
As Head of Supply & Principal Investments at Rubicon Carbon, Chris drives financing of high-integrity carbon removal and nature-based solutions.
With a foundation in commodities trading, clean energy infrastructure, and climate tech M&A and VC, Chris leverages more than 15 years of experience developing and funding scalable low‑carbon projects. A seasoned leader in the voluntary carbon market, he focuses on unlocking nature‑based removals and innovative financial tools to accelerate capital flow into climate solutions.
Andre Ferreira oversees strategic planning and optimizes operational efficiency to support at-scale decarbonization projects.
He holds a BS in Systems Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and brings strategic consulting experience from his time at McKinsey & Company. Since joining Rubicon Carbon in September 2022, he has played a key role in driving the company’s growth and structural development.
Marc Garfinkle oversees the company’s investment and trading activities in both compliance and voluntary carbon markets. With a background management commodity-focused portfolios—include a $1 billion investment strategy at Point72 Asset Management and prior work at Carbon point Partners—he brings deep financial expertise to his climate work.
A Wharton School graduate, Marc applies strategic capital allocation and rigorous market analysis to scale high-integrity carbon solutions.
Jessica develops and manages talent strategies, culture initiatives, and people programs to support Rubicon Carbon’s growth and success.
Jessica brings extensive expertise in people leadership and organizational development, grounded in her experience at small and large organizations as well as her education from UC Santa Barbara.
Since 2022, she has been instrumental in building a collaborative, diverse, and high‑performing team environment at Rubicon Carbon.
Amishi brings expertise in carbon management technologies, carbon dioxide removal, and environmental science to Rubicon Carbon.
Amishi previously worked at the U.S. Department of Energy, focusing on carbon management, and served as the acting division director for carbon removal and conversion.
In this role, Amishi managed millions of dollars in research and development investments in emerging and scaling climate technologies. She leads the development and implementation of ongoing monitoring and due diligence for our super pollutant elimination and carbon dioxide removal projects.
She holds an MS in geology and an MS in environmental science from Indiana University, and a BS in Earth and Environmental Science from Vanderbilt University.
Dr. Nan Pond is responsible for leading due diligence as well as the quantification of quality and ongoing monitoring of a diverse suite of nature-based carbon projects. In addition to leading work in carbon impact quantification, Nan is an accomplished data scientist and statistician.
She received the annual Society of American Foresters Young Forester Leadership Award in 2020 and has held multiple leadership roles within SAF.
She earned a PhD in Forest Biometrics from Michigan Technological University and a BS in Forest Ecosystem Science from SUNY ESF.
Anne Finucane is Chairwoman of Rubicon Carbon, where she leads the company’s strategic direction in advancing high-integrity carbon credit markets.
Previously, she served as Vice Chair of Bank of America, where she pioneered the bank’s $1 trillion sustainable finance initiative and co-chaired its Sustainable Markets Committee. Finucane is also a Senior Advisor to TPG Rise Climate Fund and holds board positions at several organizations, including CVS Health, Williams-Sonoma, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Special Olympics.
Jim Coulter is the Executive Chairman and a Founding Partner of TPG, a global private equity firm he co-founded in 1992.
He has held various leadership roles at TPG, including Co-Chief Executive Officer and Managing Partner of TPG Rise Climate, the firm’s dedicated climate investment platform. Coulter is also a member of the boards of trustees at both Dartmouth College and Stanford University, and he has served on over 40 corporate and charitable boards throughout his career.
Gina McCarthy is a prominent American environmentalist who served as the first White House National Climate Advisor from 2021 to 2022 under President Joe Biden. Before that, she was the 13th Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from 2013 to 2017, where she led significant efforts to reduce air pollution and combat climate change.
McCarthy has also held key positions in state government, including Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection and Assistant Administrator for EPA’s Office of Air and Radiation. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Anthropology from the University of Massachusetts Boston and a Master of Science in Environmental Health Engineering from Tufts University.
Tracy Wolstencroft has been a senior advisor to TPG Rise Climate since its inception in 2021.
He has held senior leadership roles across global finance, executive search, scientific exploration, and humanitarian response. During more than two decades at Goldman Sachs, he was a Partner leading key businesses in Asia, Latin America, and the United States. He later served as Chairman, President, and CEO of Heidrick & Struggles, and then as President and CEO of the National Geographic Society, where he was also a long‑standing trustee. He is Chair Emeritus of the International Rescue Committee, one of the world’s leading humanitarian organizations.
Tracy currently serves on the corporate boards of Rubicon Carbon, AmSpec Group, and Hybar. He is Vice Chair of Columbia University’s Center on Global Energy Policy, a trustee of the Brookings Institution, a graduate and trustee of Bowdoin College, and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
Philip Deutch is the founder and Managing Partner of NGP Energy Technology Partners (ETP), a private equity firm established in 2005 that focuses on investments in renewable energy, energy storage, power electronics, and related sectors.
With over two decades of experience in energy technology investing, he has led early- to late-stage investments in areas such as distributed generation, energy management, and power quality. Prior to founding NGP ETP, Deutch served as Managing Director at Perseus, L.L.C., where he co-led the firm’s energy investing activities and was a member of its Executive Committee. He holds a J.D. from Stanford Law School and a B.A. in Economics from Amherst College, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
